Strep A Rapid Antigen Test
Streptococcus Rapid Antigen POC Test
The Strep A Rapid Test Device (Swab) is a rapid visual immunoassay for the qualitative, presumptive detection of Group A Streptococcus antigens in human throat swab specimens. This kit is intended for use as an aid in the diagnosis of Strep A infection.

An effective tool for early prevention
The Strep A Rapid Test Device (Swab) is a point-of-care testing solution intended to aid medical professionals and clinicians in the detection of Strep A infections. Beta-hemolytic Group A Streptococcus is a major cause of upper respiratory infections such as tonsillitis, pharyngitis, and scarlet fever. Early diagnosis and treatment of Group A Streptococcal pharyngitis has been shown to reduce the severity of symptoms and further complications, such as rheumatic fever and glomerulonephritis.

Designed to be non-invasive and easy to administer, the Ecotest Strep A Test's cassette design makes it suitable and minimally uncomfortable for a wide range of patients, from children aged 3+ to elderly. Test by swabbing the inflamed area, then mixing the swab sample with the buffer solution, and adding the mixed sample onto the cassette sample strip. Read results in 5 minutes. All reagents and testing equipment are contained within the package.

Summary of use
The Strep-A Rapid Test Device (Swab) detects Group A Streptococcus antigens through visual interpretation of colour development on a sample strip. Anti-Strep A antibodies are immobilised on the test region (T) of the test membrane. During the test, the specimen reacts with anti-Strep A antibodies on the sample strip. The mixture migrates through the membrane and interacts with reagents on the membrane, returning a result.
Interpreting results
The presence of a 20coloured band in the test region (T) indicates a positive result, while its absence indicates a negative result. A coloured band in the control region (C) serves as a procedural control, indicating that the proper volume of specimen has been added. If no band on the C region appears, the test is invalid, and should be repeated with a new device.
Precautions for use
The test is intended for point-of-care use; and not intended for home testing (or self-testing). It obtains a preliminary result only, to aid diagnosis of Strep-A. Please note that negative results do not preclude viral infections—test results should not be the sole basis for treatment or other management decisions. Generally, testing results should never be seen separated, but always in clinical context (i.e. patient history, symptoms, and other clinical information).
